Pocket Network Supports Fantom and Provides Fast, Reliable RPC Service for Developers

At Pocket Network, we’re bringing true decentralization to Web3 applications across various blockchains. We’re excited to announce one more win-win integration with Fantom, the highly scalable blockchain platform for DeFi, crypto dApps, and enterprise applications. Through this integration, developers will be able to mint Fantom RPC (remote procedure call) endpoints for their applications directly from the Pocket Portal, helping them to serve the data demands of their app users. Node runners will also, for the first time, be able to earn $POKT for servicing Fantom traffic from applications, tools, services and protocols. The addition of Pocket Network’s middleware protocol will bring real decentralization to Fantom’s RPC layer, and provide additional full-node incentives to node operators in the form of the $POKT token, which can be earned by those running Fantom nodes via Pocket Network. This integration stands to benefit the Fantom ecosystem in a number of ways, in part by incentivizing the setup and maintenance of full nodes. Previously, only Fantom validator nodes stood to earn $FTM rewards. Now, full node operators can be rewarded in $POKT for their efforts in maintaining the integrity of the network and provisioning a core piece of infrastructure. Pocket adds decentralization, security, and bandwidth to blockchain ecosystems, thanks to its globally distributed network of more than 48,000 active nodes. Pocket has already directed the strength of its node network to support over 45+ blockchain platforms with their data relay needs, including the likes of Ethereum, Polygon, Gnosis Chain, FUSE, Avalanche, and many more.

About Fantom, and Why the Integration with Pocket Network Matters

Fantom is a layer-1 blockchain aiming to provide an alternative to the high costs and low speeds which users of other layer-1’s are often faced with. It provides a one-stop solution that ticks all the required attributes of decentralization, security, & scalability.Fantom uses a single consensus layer to support the creation of multiple execution chains. FTM, the project's native token, is used for payments, governance, and ongoing block rewards sent to validators and delegators who stake FTM. The network's independent consensus layer, called Lachesis, features a novel consensus mechanism developed by the Fantom Foundation dubbed the "Lachesis Protocol." Lachesis can provide security to multiple other layers, the first of which is Fantom's EVM-compatible smart contract chain called Opera. The project's goal is to host an ecosystem of execution layers while enabling them to feature fast and cost-efficient transactions derived from the benefits of the proprietary Lachesis Protocol. The Fantom ecosystem is growing fast with over 200 dApps, which must work resiliently for end-users.Thanks to Pocket Network and its integrations with Web3 partners, decentralized infrastructure is skyrocketing. Fantom is a vivid example of such collaborations. Now, a pool of Fantom nodes is ready to serve Fantom applications with constant uptime.Unlike centralized cloud-based solutions often used by blockchains for network bandwidth, Pocket is a protocol that isn’t beholden to the arbitrary whims of any one entity or collection of directors. As such, Pocket can deliver true decentralization and constant network uptime, while cutting long-term costs for developers and sidestepping the prospect of arbitrary censorship.
